Women's Journey of Faith recommendsBUGirl.com as an excellent source of
encouragement for young girls.
Our Girls Journey of Faith 2006 conference was a fantastic weekend for teen girls. Held on April 28th -29th, over 150 girls and youth sponsors attended our “GJOF True Purpose” event with Carried Away. Upon arrival, the girls were greeted with goody bags complete with their GJOF program, pink bubble gum, a funky green and pink feather pen and more! A local worship team led the girls in singing and -as many girls stated- “they rocked!”.
The girls were able to choose 3 break out sessions throughout the day from the following:
| - Rock the House-(getting along with your parents) | - True Mirror (self-esteem) |
| - Worship Through Art Breakdance | - Spiritual Disciplines |
| - Christianity 101 | - Snack Shack |
| - Truth Talks (dating and purity) | - Don't Buy the Lie |
A memorable highlight of the day involved the girls grabbing a pink or green helium balloon that was used for décor for the conference and met Jodi @ the back of the church parking lot. With loud voices the girls shouted our theme verse “And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free” John 8:32, and let go of their balloons and prayed silently as they watched them float off into the sky.
Among the many speakers and presenters were Carolyn Carleton who shared from the life of Esther and encouraged the girls to make a difference! Also, Corwin Thiessen joined us in the morning, www.yfcsask.com, and challenged the girls to think outside the box of God's amazing purpose for their lives. Other ministries joining us in the foyer included ID Fashions, Scott's Parable's Christian bookstore, Free 100.3 Christian Radio, Bethany Bible College, and Youth for Christ.
All in all, the purpose of the day was to encourage teen girls to live ‘radical Christ-centered lives' living out their true purpose. As a team, we enjoyed reading the comments from the day and look forward to seeking God's heart in preparation for the next GJOF!
