As followers of Jesus, we are to be a people who continually walk in love. The greatest command we are given is to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength. The second greatest command is to love others. (Mark 12:30-31)
As women, we are wired to nurture. We are constantly pouring into our families, loved ones, communities and workplaces. What happens when we continually pour out but are never filled? We end up empty, dry and burnt out.
God never intended for us to walk in love by our own strength and our own ability. God’s love is supernatural. This is why the first command is to love Him. God must be first! It is out of our intimate relationship and time spent seeking the face of God that we are filled to overflowing with His supernatural love. It is so much easier to pour out when we are overflowing with the love of God.
If your life is dry and walking in love seems to be difficult, I encourage you to find your secret place, get away with God, seek His face and allow His love to nourish your heart until you are filled to overflowing once again.
“How deeply intimate and far-reaching is his love! How enduring and inclusive it is! Endless love beyond measurement that transcends our understanding – this extravagant love pours into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness of God!” Ephesians 3:19 TPT
